45 minutes into the match....0-0....90 minutes into the match....0-0....Added on 15 minutes....still 0-0...another 15 minutes...0-0....it was killing me, literally. On to the penalties to decide it once and for all....another 5 minutes....I was already jumping wildly, near to being a nervous-wreck. I woke up at 3.55 in the morning to watch the match, like I've said I would in my earlier blog. Settled myself down, and watched the match. Both teams were equally good. Sheffield Utd was very much in the offense mood when the game first started. Arsenal couldn't move forward...they could hardly get near the goal. Arsenal gained their stride later on. Still, Sheffield was equally good in the defense mode. They put up a good fight.
Arsenal got quite a few opportunities...but it was all blocked or missed. Oh yeah, the goalkeeper for Sheffield United, Paddy Kenny...was like...woah. Another goalkeeper worth mentioning for keeping Arsenal away. Nice one. But what I'm proud of, Arsenal was good...despite being a team of youngsters mostly. Nine of Arsenal's players were out...Henry, Pires, Campbell, Edu, Gilberto, Hoyte...all for injuries...and Bergkamp, van Persie and Reyes for suspension. That's ALOT. Fabregas was back for this match...and....he was...good. Lol. Seriously. I like the way he played. He was very much ambitious...daring..bold...brave...He made a few shots at the goal, although it didn't get in cause of once again..Kenny of Sheffield was good, but he did make pretty good moves. However, something I noticed in Fabregas from this game..he actually gets slight impatient and annoyed/bad tempered..when he misses his shots or make mistakes. When it came to a corner kick that Fabregas was suppose to take, Kenny was still holding on to the ball, which Fabregas just snatched it away from him..causing a slight(really slight) scuffle. It happened right after Fabregas missed his shot which he attempted for. Hehe. Guess he takes the game really seriously and really wants to give his all for the game. Yes, big brother...bad temper/impatientness is not a good trait....but I like Cesc still...lol. Hehe. Anyway, its what makes him an Arsenal player. Both you and I, and probably every Arsenal fan, know/s that Arsenal players have this stubborn/impatient/hot-temper/etc. streak in them...even though just a little bit. It's like a must-have Arsenal trait. Lol.
Okay..so the match results....hehe. Penalty kicks...the home side goes first which means..Sheffield. The first one went right in..then it was Arsenal's turn. It got in. Sheffield again...in. Arsenal's turn...in. Third kick...Sheffield, missed. My hopes got up. Arsenal...through! Next up...Sheffield's turn...missed. I shrieked...heart thumping...mind wandering aimlessly...Arsenal's next...the decider..by Ashley Cole...he stops...looks calm..kicks. And..it goes in! Perfect! I shrieked in joy this time, jumped up...feeling jubilant. I saw the look on the players' faces...they were relieved...pure joy...I had tears in my eyes...serious. After nearly 125 minutes plus...we got it. In for the next round...in for the running for the F.A Cup. I loved the fact the Arsenal players wrapped themselves in the red cloth(flag/banner?) with the Arsenal crest during their penalty kick-time. It just showed they have the Arsenal spirit in them. Hehe.
Why did I so badly wanted them to win? Cause this would help to boost their morale...their spirit for their upcoming games. I can't explain my relief/joy when Cole got in the panalty kick. Happy....very happy. Hehe. Arsenal...wonderful and brilliant team...despite all odds, they still make it through. A wonderful club indeed. Hell yeah. I'm praising the club too much...hehe...but, hey, I'm an Arsenal fan..I'm proud of the club....proud to be their fan...like I've always said. Hell yeah. So sue me. Lol.
