This is absolutely sad. I can't believe I'm actually commemorating my 300th post with the loss of Japan against Australia, which happened barely half an hour ago. Ever since the World Cup began, I didn't really catch much of the matches, except for the Holland match yesterday night, but that was only the first half. I actually sat through for this match, but it ended miserably for me.
At the start I thought things were going pretty well, with both teams looking good. I was surprised by Japan's first (and only) goal but equally esctatic. I thought Japan was going to have it until the end, but then came the last 10 minutes and my hopes were dashed. I can't believe that they allowed their defense fall apart at those crucial minutes, allowing a bloody total of 3 goals! That's three in the last 10 minutes. Three. Three. When Australia scored the first goal, I thought it was going to be a draw. Then came the second. And then the third. I honestly felt like a knife had been stabbed right at me. It's a huge blow really.
Admittedly, Australia were really good with their attacking and Japan was on their heels trying to defend. Not much luck on attack though, except occasionally. I hate losing, it truly reeks. A draw wouldn't be so bad, at least there would be 1 point still. But now, it's zilch, none, zero. Sigh. I actually cried after the match ended. Next up, Croatia and then Brazil. Not to be pessimistic, but against Brazil...well, the chances of winning looks a little bleak. And to top it off, my brother had just informed me that Croatia is not one team to be cast aside as a non-threat. I hate to think that Japan will be booted off in the group stage itself. But...it's not like they will definitely lose these two matches, maybe somehow they would be able to fight back and regain their place. C'mon Japan! Ganbatte!
In case it isn't obvious enough, yeah, I'm a fan of Japan's football team. Since our very own national team is not in the World Cup, I can't be accused of not being patriotic can I? Lol. So since I have the freedom in supporting another country then...my first choice goes to Japan, due to the fact they had caught my attention back in 2002. Then it's France, Spain and well, S.Korea. But the ones I'm really rooting for are Japan, France and Spain. I can't really decide between the three which I would prefer more, all three teams are pretty good. If anyone's wondering how the hell can I support three teams, well, let me point out that all three are in different groups (not including S.Korea here, I'm going to be neutral when it comes to both teams meeting each other in their group stage). And when it comes to them meeting each other in the next stage, then...we'll see I guess. Lol.
So now the next match that I will be anxious about will be France's match against Switzerland. I hope that doesn't end in misery for me as well.
