win & lose

Maybe the right team had won today. They played well, the last goal was smooth and undeniable. They proved everyone wrong and went all out.

France won. 3-1.

I can't say I'm too happy about that, I mean it's good that they won. But I'm utterly dissapointed that Spain lost. I can't say that they didn't play well, cause they did give their all. I guess the win's just not theirs to take. France defense was strong, and it didn't seem like the Spaniards could break it down, barely reaching near the goal with their shots. Both teams did good.

I wonder if France were to lose and Spain were the winner, would I be as miserable & dejected as I am now? Well, I'll never know, obviously.

When the second goal was scored I was more than willing for Spain to score and for them to go into extra time, even if it means a longer anxiety time for me. But that was not the case when France scored their third. It was all over with that goal. It was like a definite goodbye to the Spaniards.

However, I am not as dissapointed as I was over the Arsenal v Barcelona match in the recent Champions League. That was a bigger killer to my mood. Anyway, I decided I shall not drown in sadness and misery but just accept the result. After all, the Spanish team accepted the loss with their heads high, being brave with it. So I shouldn't be in such damp spirits either.

What I liked about the game was the fact that there was quite a fair play, the players gave their all and there were no racisms or whatsoever (at least not that I know of). And at the end of the match, there were the friendly handshakes, the exchange of congratulatory words and small smiles. No sore losers. No arrogant winners either. A very nice game indeed.

I was especially delighted at the start of the game when the team shook hands with each other before heading for the game. I kept my gaze on three particular players. When Henry reached Cesc, besides the regular handshake, smiles and a hug were exchanged as well. The same went for Vieira and Cesc. It's so nice to see that these teammates of the same club being so civil and encouraging to each other despite being in a competitive match against each other. The spirit of Arsenal. Lol. I even caught the commentator's words that Arsene Wenger was at the match today.

And right now, 16 minutes after the final whistle was blown, I'm feeling alright. No sense of sadness or whatsoever. And here I thought I was going to cry buckets, okay so I did cry a little, but like I said, it was a good game and both did well. Win or lose, it doesn't matter, just as long as the game's played with fairness, passion and a friendly fighting spirit. Cheers to both Spain and France for their brilliant sportsmanship.
