I am very much convinced that there is NOT enough time in a day. In my day anyway. I've spent the whole day doing all kind of things and my hands keep tapping away furiously at a pretty fast pace on my keyboard most of the time. Okay, so I have been lacking in replying some emails and also PMs from the SHCJ.net forum, but still, it seems like I have loads stacked up,waiting for me to do and complete. And I had just remembered that I have my overdue letter from PTPN that I have to give a final edit, print it and mail it with Pos Express. And an overdue email to my aunt in U.K about my recent grades and graduation. How did I forgot so much stuff? And there's my responsibility with another new forum created with my other friends. Sigh.
I can't even blog without being distracted by some other task. I'm getting pretty good at multi-tasking actually. Just yesterday I was chatting to my friends online and at the same time, placing honey dew into my mouth as I fiddled with the hair-dryer after being nagged by my mom to dry my hair throughly. And right now, I'm filling up the necessary stuff for my loan deferment and at the same time chatting and blogging. Though the blogging part is a lil tough as my brain needs to work extra to think of what I'm supposed to be blogging. Which reminds me, I have an overdue tag that I still have yet to do. Sigh.
Anyway, I've gotten around my orientation and I have to say, as boring as half of it was, it wasn't that bad. But I was almost bored to tears though. I can't blame the speakers, I mean, they were really nice and all, but one can only take so much of sitting down for a couple of hours while listening to stuff you could actually refer to the student handbook. The third day was better cause it was fun. Really fun. It was team-building, but the activities, luckily, were different and fun. For the first time in my life, I actually actively participated in such stuff. Really, most of the time, I hang with my 'gang' and don't really do much.
The first was the usual ice-breaking where we had to introduce ourselves and remember each other's name by saying one after the other. Typical. Then it was where we had to be blinded in the dark, and had to organize ourselves according to our assigned number without talking AT ALL. Rather impossible at first cause we ended up bumping into each other and all. But it was fun to figure out ways to communicate. Some teams used clapping to signal the number they were, some used stomping, some snapped fingers. The first thing that came to my mind however, was writing the number on the person's palm. Basically, physical touch. Unfortunately it didn't work quite well cause some members were rather blur on what I was trying to do and sometimes I couldn't get what they were writing either. Lol. We ended up getting half-close to being organized. Thing was, our group was practically the biggest so the numbers were from zero till....fifteen I think. Or sixteen. So it was pretty confusing.
I almost gave up at my attempt to find and organize us all, cause everyone just scattered and got all messed up, but I didn't. I wanted to, a few times, but I realized that giving up when there was so much time is utterly the most stupid thing to do. I wouldn't have thought this way if this happened a year ago, but now, I honestly think that making an effort is better than nothing at all.I kept going on, trying to locate them all and place them in the right position as best I could and hoped that perhaps someone else would be doing it as well. And I'm glad I didn't give up. It sort of made me feel good to know that despite how 'impossible' the task was, I still held on and tried my very best. Though we didn't really get it all right, another team managed to got nearly all right with two mistakes. So close! They must have really good organization and non-verbal communication skills.
Then there was the activity where we had to put together a puzzle together (a 30-35 piece puzzle?) without talking either. Sounds easy. Not really. Especially when it came to putting it together. No one really realized it at first until I noticed that the puzzle pieces were different. There was two different puzzles in one as some pieces had doubles and there were parts that just didn't seem right. I stopped everyone at what they were doing and quickly pointed it out with funny gestures. Everyone paused for the moment before realizing it as well, and almost attempted to point out to the facilitators that we had a weird mix of puzzle. That was until a junior, named Jitra(?) pointed out to me to think out of the box. She gestured that we should exchanged with the other groups and get the pieces with needed as they would probably face the same 'problem' as well. So the both of us quickly rushed over to the next group and frantically gestured to them to exchange while pointing out their 'problem'. It took them a moment to process our hand signals, but luckily our other members had figured what we were doing and had proceeded to go after the other groups and attempted to exhange. Before long, everyone was running and scrambling to exchange the puzzle pieces. And I'm glad to say, our team won first and the thrill of completing first was great, especially since it was a team-effort!
Next was the whole 'traffic-jam' game where we had to sit in a half circle and with a chair in between, we had to move from one side of the semi-circle to the other. A lil hard to explain the motion of the game though. We got stuck a few times, but luckily we had Wendy who had great directional skills to lead us. And suggestions from everyone helped as well. It took us a while to figure it out but we eventually made it. And of course, there has to be the 'pass-the-message' game where a single message is passed from one end to another, hopefully without distortion. Being in the middle, the message I got was '3 monkeys from 3 coconut trees stole 3 bananas from the villagers until the villagers chased after them.' Well, from what we found out, that was pretty close to the original. However, at the end of the line, it suddenly came up, '3 monkeys stole 3 bananas from the pirates and cheered them up.' I honestly, truly, absolutely have NO idea where that came up. All of us burst into hysterics when we saw what was written on the white board as the last person of every group was required to do. It was by far, the most 'creative' one...other than the other group who had something that went...'3 monkeys stole 3 bananas and cooked 3 villagers.' Lol.
However, besides all the fun, I would say I made quite a lot of new friends, juniors included. They were really nice and friendly, so it was pretty easy to talk to them and all. Well, first class starts tomorrow. 12pm to 4pm. Very odd class hours. But at least I have Wednesdays off. Yeap. Joy.
Look at this...a post supposedly started at 9.56pm only ended at 11.19pm. I'm really too busy for my own good these days.
